Nick Smith MP has thanked the team of volunteers who gave up their time to deliver “Everyone Deserves a Christmas” hampers across Blaenau Gwent this morning.
Mr Smith has teamed up with the Ebbw Vale Institute (EVI) pantry team to deliver hampers containing Christmas dinner ingredients, festive treats and gift sets to families that need a helping hand this year.
The hampers were put together through the “Everyone Deserves a Christmas” campaign, started in Swansea by Carolyn Harris MP and expanded this year to areas including Blaenau Gwent, Neath and Merthyr Tydfil.
Mr Smith coordinated the campaign in Blaenau Gwent with the help of Cllr Sue Edmunds and EVI Centre Manager Sian Tucker.
Following a day spent packing the hampers at Bay Studios, Swansea, Mr Smith and the volunteers gathered at the EVI this morning (Friday, December 22) to get the hampers out, packing cars and heading off across Blaenau Gwent
Mr Smith said: “I’d like to say a big thank you to all the volunteers that gave up their own time to lend a hand this morning.
“This has been a big project and it simply would not have been possible without them.
“This Christmas will be a difficult time for so many families and these packages will hopefully go some way to making things a little easier.”
