Nick Smith MP is asking constituents to Grow Wild after a successful green-fingered community event.

The Blaenau Gwent MP was part of the Colour Me Wild celebration in Ebbw Vale, which recognised the hard work going towards transforming a 25 hectare corridor running through the Works site.

Called the Furnace to Flowers project, it aims to provide a haven for many species of wildlife as well as beautiful, peaceful places for people to enjoy.

Now Mr Smith is hoping the ethos spreads throughout the borough and wants everyone to get involved.

Speaking after the event, Mr Smith said: “We have some of the most beautiful countryside in Blaenau Gwent and I’ve always marvelled at what’s on our doorstep.

“But there’s plenty of opportunity to do our bit and support our borough going green.

“It can be as simple as grabbing a free packet of seeds from the Grow Wild website, supporting community projects such as Furnace to Flowers or even starting your own”.

The Grow Wild project offer funding of £1,000 to £4,000 to groups that bring people together to transform communal spaces.
