Trailblazer Funding
In last month’s report I mentioned that I had been working with Welsh Office and DWP Ministers to secure “Trailblazer” funding for the constituency to help boost our local levels of economic activity and tackle unemployment.
I’m very happy to say that Blaenau Gwent council is one of the three Welsh local authority areas set to receive a share of £10m Trailblazer funding.
This programme will trial the roll-out of a new multi-agency, joined-up approach to employment support, with our local leaders shaping employment support schemes tailored to our community’s needs. This will include one-to-one mentoring, counselling, wellbeing services, and management of health issues.
This is aimed at helping people who are able to work, but not in employment, to find jobs, to help put extra money in people’s pockets and unlock growth as part of our Plan for Change.
