Nick Smith MP for Blaenau Gwent & Rhymney has welcomed the £40m plus “Pride in Place” funding from the UK Labour Government for his constituency.
Blaenau Gwent Council has chosen the Sirhowy Valley and Caerphilly Council has chosen Bargoed, Aberbargoed and New Tredegar to be supported.
Mr Smith said: “There are also opportunities for other projects in other parts of the constituency to bid for funding through the Pride in Place Impact fund. “These are big pots of money that will make a big difference.
“This is a brilliant example of our Labour Government delivering for our valleys.”
Secretary of State for Wales Jo Stevens MP said: “We have announced as a UK Labour Government, over £214m as part of the Pride In Place project going into Wales across nine specific communities and every single local authority in Wales.
“We all know when we walk out of our front door in the morning, there are things we see in our communities that are broken or in disrepair, things that could be improved to make our community and our lives better and this funding is specifically for this.
“So it’s for people to decide how this money is spent in their local communities. So, this is great news.”
