Nick Smith, the Shadow Minister for Food, Farming and Rural Affairs, has pressed the Government over their lack of consultation regarding an important EU vote on GMOs.

The EU rejected plans to allow individual countries to place bans on GM food and feed, with the UK voting against the proposals.

But although the Food Standards Agency commissioned a consultation into how it would affect the UK, the end date of the consultation was too late to inform the Government’s decision on the vote.
